A-Train 9: Initial impressions
15.05.10 - My copy of A9 arrived yesterday and I spent the evening playing around with the game and some of the options. Read about my initial impressions HERE on the Blog.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Since buildiing the new fansite from scratch will take far more time and effort than I had initially estimated, I have decided to put the 'old' fansite back online so that those who want to can browse for information until the new site if finished.
I'm still very much at the planning stage for A-TrainHX.com mk2, however, as soon as I have something definite to show I'll be updating my progress over on the Tetsudō Otaku Blog
I also want to make another appeal for contributions from A-Train fans. If you have made a creative map, have a review of the game or some other related writing, please get in touch at the usual email so that it can be included on the new site.

18.11.09 - A fix for A-Train 8 windows issue
Over on the Forum a number of members had reported unexpected errors when trying to install their copy of A-Train 8. A couple of people found a solution to the problem, including Adam, who had this to say:
A-Train 8 has an issue with Windows 7 [and sometimes Vista] and wont run unless you update the Tages drivers. These are disk copy protection drivers and can be updated quite easily. Just go along to tagesprotection.com, go to drivers and download either the 64 or 32 bit version. Copy the file into the same directory as the current tages files and execute it. The game should now run. Happy days!

18.10.09 - Fan Site Update
I finally managed to get the Japan section of this site finished. Please take a LOOK. It's meant as general overview of the Japanese rail system: the trains; the stations; the buildings and some background and technical information. As far as possible I have tried to show how it all relates to the game. Hope you enjoy browsing.
Please also note that the fan site has a new Blog. It's called Tetsudō Otaku (meaning a train geek!). I'll keep it updated as often as I can. There will be train-related news items from Japan, train-related features, images, models and gaming. The link is on the left at the bottom of the list.
As for future site updates there will be:
* A-Train DS review and features
* A-Train 9 preview
Stay tuned.

05.09.09 - Possible bug in A8 EU
I've noticed what I feel might be a bug in the A8 scenario "Bridge Over Three Plains". It's probably worth mentioning.
I played through this scenario several times and noticed that the Stock Market never seems to drop below 7.00 and never rises above 15.00
This means that your gains on share sales are going to be pretty limited. It's also the scenario I used for the walkthrough on this site and gamers should be aware that if they follow the walkthrough using this particular scenario they're not going to get the best of the game play.
Having said that, I'm aware that not everyone is using the Stock Exchange. If you prefer a heightened challenge then this bug might not be such a game-breaker.

31.07.09 - Fan Site Update
I'm on holiday in Japan until August 9th - taking lots of train photos and making notes so that I can complete the 'Japan' section of the site. Just didn't want anyone to think that was it, that I was anywhere near finished.
I'm still working on content so remember to check back from time to time. If you want to discuss A-Train or ask questions about the series you can also visit the Forum.
I should say that I am not very technically-inclined so I can't promise to answer questions related to PC and game installation difficulties. If you are having problems getting A-Train installed then first do the obvious and check your PC meets the minimum specs. If you are using a legitimate copy of the game then perhaps post a screenshot of the error and maybe some kind forum member will offer advice.
Other than this I don't know what to say. PC's are machines and I know that from time to time they will just reject a certain game. This may apply moreso if your gaming machine has been built rather than purchased.

25.06.09 - No train update for Euro A-Train
Artdink confirm there will be no new trains for Euro A8. Reason is due to train licensor contract restrictions. This ofcourse means that gamers outside of Japan are restricted to choosing from 55 trains compared with the 200 in the Japanese version.

04.06.09 - A-Train DS Japan release
Artdink announces the release of A-Train DS for Nintendo DS! (actually it was announced a couple of months ago).
No mention as yet of a European or American release. You can view screens and visit the official site (Japanese language).
Last spotted at #41 in the Japanese Game Chart but has since fallen off the bottom....
Impressions or a review from anyone who has managed to play it would be gratefully received.
